Pyrazolam is a benzodiazepine derivative originally developed in the 1970s and subsequently “rediscovered” and sold as a designer drug starting in 2012. Pyrazolam shares structural similarities with alprazolam and bromazepam. Unlike other benzodiazepines, pyrazolam does not appear to undergo metabolism, but is excreted unchanged in the urine. Pyrazolam has anxiolytic properties that are 12 times stronger than diazepam.
