Amb-fubinaca

AMB-FUBINACA , also known as  FUB-AMB  and  MMB-FUBINACA , is a  synthetic cannabinoid  based on  indazole . It acts as a  potent agonist at CB1  and  CB2  receptors  , with affinity (Ki) values ​​of 10.04 nM at CB1 and 0.786 nM at CB2, and EC50 values ​​of 0.5433 nM at CB1 and 0.1278 nM at CB2. This compound has been sold online as a  designer drug ¹ .

Pfizer originally developed AMB-FUBINACA in 2009 and described it in a patent, but it was never tested in humans. Despite this, it has become one of the most common synthetic cannabinoids identified in drug seizures. In 2017 and the first half of 2018, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) found AMB-FUBINACA in numerous ^samples .

However, AMBFUBINACA has also been linked to serious adverse events. In 2016, a “mass casualty” event occurred in New York City in which 33 people were affected by the drug, and 18 of them were hospitalized. Witnesses described the victims as “zombies.” The cause was attributed to the use of AMBFUBINACA, and its demethyl metabolite was found in the blood and urine of hospitalized patients .  Additionally, in New Zealand, approximately 60 deaths have been attributed to AMBFUBINACA or a related compound called 5F-ADB during 2017–2018.
